A probabilistic model of error-detecting codes based on quasigroups

Abstract

Error-detecting codes are used to detect errors when messages are transmitted through a noisy communication channel. We propose a new model of error-detecting codes based on quasigroups. We find the optimal block length such that the probability of undetected errors is smaller than some previous given value t. Also, we compare two considered codes and conclude that quasigroups of higher order give smaller probability of undetected errors. At the end of this paper we give a classification of quasigroups of order 4 according to goodness for proposed codes.
