Boris Alexeevich Shcherbakov. A tribute in honor of his 75th.

Abstract

Boris Alexeevich Shcherbakov, widely recognized mathematician, Professor of the State University of Moldova, was born February 18, 1924 in Belgorod-Dnestrovsk. He is a veteran of the Second World War.
In 1956 Boris Alexeevich graduated from the Kishinev State University (now called SUM). His fruitful scientific activity had begun at the Institute of Mathematics, AS of Moldova. For more than two decades B.A.Shcherbakov was Chairman of the Chair of Differential Equations of SUM.
Boris Alexeevich is a distinguished specialist in the qualitative theory of differential equations and topological theory of dynamical systems. He published two monographs and more than 80 research papers. He obtained important results on Lyapunov stability of solutions of differential equations in Banach spaces. B.A.Shcherbakov performed a deep and comprehensive investigation of the Poisson stable motions of dynamical systems and established a number of interesting results on the existence of Poisson stable solutions of non-autonomous differential equations. Several of his papers are devoted to the study of stable invariant subsets of dynamical systems. He supervised 5 Ph.D. theses.
Boris Alexeevich is a dedicated teacher and excellent lecturer. He gives a lot of his energy and enthusiasm to the education of students. He is always generous and well-disposed to his colleagues and students.
B.A.Shcherbakov was awarded the State Prize of Moldova and other decorations.
We wish Boris Alexeevich strong health and new achievements.
