On the absence of singular continuous spectrum for Jacobi matrices. (English)

Abstract
The problem of the absence of singular continuous part (component) of the spectrum for operators close to the operators generated by Jacobi matrices is investigated. Based on direct methods of the perturbation theory, sufficient conditions for the discreteness of the singular spectrum of such operators are established. The main results are obtained under an abstract scheme described before. This scheme represents in fact a suitable processing of well known methods developed for scattering theory and related topics by S.Agmon, S.T.Kuroda, M.Schechter.Department of Mathematics, Moldova State University
