Summary

The project concept addresses an important area of educational reform: the differentiated approach to the teaching-learning of mathematics in secondary schools. The research problem to be solved is the pressing need for educational resources for mathematics teachers and for students capable of high performance from a psycho- didactic perspective. A key strength of research in mathematics education is a strong focus on content, considering the specific characteristics of mathematics as a field, as well as the mathematical topics or tasks that motivate students. The aim of the project proposal is to enhance the efficiency of organizing extra-curricular activities in mathematics, of preparing secondary school pupils for school contests by capitalizing on the experiences of enriching the curriculum and perfecting the methodology of developing teaching resources for teachers and for pupils capable of high performance in mathematics. The research within the project aims to accomplish the following objectives: analyze opportunities to enrich the secondary school mathematics curriculum from the perspective of meeting the requirements of local and national competitions; evaluate curricula and teaching resources published in the Republic of Moldova and internationally, intended for teachers who train secondary school students for mathematics competitions, as well as for the students themselves; develop methodological benchmarks for extracurricular activities with students capable of high performance in mathematics from the perspective of the psycho-didactic approach; create educational resources for extracurricular activities in mathematics with secondary school students who are capable of high performance, utilizing ICT and modern teaching technologies; promote high-performance education at national level by involving former mathematics Olympians from the Republic of Moldova in the project activities.
